Should I Let My Kids Play Airsoft?

The decision to allow your child to play Airsoft is entirely up to you. No one else can make the choice for you.

Airsoft is not without its dangers, but it can be made as safe as your child wants it to be. If they are sensible about the game and do not take risks, there should be no reason why anyone gets hurt. With Airsoft offering all of the excitement of paintball but none of the pain and bruises, it is a good way to get your fix without feeling battered and sore afterwards.

Proper safety gear will allow your child to have a safe, fun experience playing Airsoft. Only let them play if they agree to wear the proper gear, including safety goggles.

Airsoft guns are not toys! A child who sneaks one out when you’re not looking can get himself into a lot of trouble. If your child is caught with an Airsoft gun on school grounds, he will be in serious trouble with the police and his school. Tell him that if he wants to play Airsoft, he must do so on private property away from prying eyes.

If you are worried about the cost of buying them an outfit and gun then don’t worry, by playing in groups your children will be able to share equipment with others! The good news is that you can pick up a starter kit for cheap, allowing them to start playing without too much outlay. If they prove themselves responsible enough, you can always reward their good behavior with an upgrade!

Recreational play will allow your child to act out his fantasies of fighting in a world war or close quarter combat (CQC), but Airsoft is mainly about having fun and doing something that they enjoy doing. It’s a good way to get outside and be active, regardless of the weather.

Airsoft also helps kids learn important skills such as team work, strategic thinking and risk assessment – all things that they can take into real life! So if Airsoft is something that your son or daughter has become passionate about, why not support them? You may be surprised at how much you enjoy it too!

If your child gets really into it, then think about entering an official Airsoft competition! As with most sports, there are different levels for players depending on their level of skill. If you feel that your child is ready for this, take them along to one of the many Airsoft matches around your area. They may even win themselves a prize!
